The Concert, painted by Johannes Vermeer around 1664, depicts a man and two women playing music in an intimate domestic setting. This masterpiece is renowned for its depiction of light, intricate details, and the serene atmosphere typical of Vermeer’s work. The painting was part of the collection of Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1990, it was stolen in a notorious art heist, along with several other valuable works, and remains missing to this day. Despite its absence, “The Concert” continues to be celebrated for its exquisite portrayal of everyday life in the Dutch Golden Age and remains a poignant symbol of lost cultural heritage.
